Rocky Mountain Region Names New Idaho Wing Commander

ROCKY MOUNTAIN REGION NAMES NEW IDAHO WING COMMANDER F.E. Warren AFB, WY – September 5, 2021 

RMR Commander, Col Jeff Johnson, has announced  

that Col (select) Robin Vest will take over as the new  

Idaho Wing Commander effective 16 September 

2021. 

 

 

 

 

Col Vest has been a member of Civil Air Patrol  for over thirty-three years and has currently been  serving as the Interim Wing Commander since May.  Leading up to her new position she has served as the  Region Director of Finance for both Rocky Mountain  and Mid-Atlantic Regions, as a Squadron  

Commander in Maryland Wing, as a Cadet Officer School Seminar Advisor, and as the  Director of several National Flight Academies. She has a well-rounded background in all  three CAP missions. In her professional life, Col (sel) Vest was as an employee of  corporate Civil Air Patrol where she worked in Finance and Professional Development.  

Civil Air Patrol runs in her family as she is the daughter of aviation pioneer Col Mary  Feik. She currently resides in Coeur D Alene, Idaho with her husband, former Civil Air  Patrol Board of Governors member, Col Warren Vest and their three cats, Milo, Huck  and Finn.  

Civil Air Patrol is the longtime auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force and as such is a valued member of its Total Force. In its  auxiliary role, CAP operates a fleet of 560 single-engine aircraft and 1,994 small Unmanned Aircraft Systems  (sUAS). It performs about 90% of continental U.S. inland search and rescue missions as tasked by the Air Force  Rescue Coordination Center and is credited by the AFRCC with saving an average of 82 lives annually. CAP’s 60,000  members also perform homeland security, disaster relief and drug interdiction missions at the request of federal,  state and local agencies. Operating as a nonprofit organization, CAP also plays a leading role in STEM/aerospace  education, and its members serve as mentors to about 25,000 young people participating in CAP’s Cadet Programs.
